Mr. Incredible

The other night Austin and I were watching The Incredibles, Megan was on an outing with Grandma, and Rob was getting ready to go to the Jazz game. When Rob snuggled up to Austin to kiss him goodbye, Austin said "Daddy, you're Mr. Incredible". I thought it was so sweet, Rob laughed a little and I didn't give it much more thought until last night and I realized just how right Austin is!
So, here's a peak into the life of a real super hero...
Monday-After a long day at work, comes home and let's the kids ride around on his back, after a quick dinner it's off to work with a horse all evening in the cold, load a trailor full of fire wood, then come home and help get kids into bed. After all that and a quick shower, I'm sure he would have loved to get a good night's sleep, but no, Austin got an ear infection in BOTH ears and screamed all night long.
Tuesday- After a couple of cat naps, he's up at 4:30 to go get started on job #1... after job #2 he comes home to take care of his sicky for a little while, and thankfully gets to go to the game that night (which they won!!), home at 12:30 he's just about to get into bed when Megan starts crying, he goes in to comfort her, only to get puked all over... another hour of starting laundry, scrubbing carpet and mattress and he will finally get to lay down... only to be awoken every hour after that while she continues the puking all night long.
Wednesday- FINALLY, his day off- this should be an easy one, right? Not exactly, with two sick kids and a pregnant wife he gets a morning filled with coughing, puking, crying and whining. But at least there's an ultrasound scheduled that afternoon so he can finally find out the sex of his unborn baby. Whoops- well, baby wouldn't cooperate and move little legs so after multiple attempts, he still doesn't know what his baby is. Frustrating, but still he does have another Jazz game to look forward to. He stays up late to watch his team, but unfortunately they lose by 4, so he heads to bed knowing that he'll get 5-6 hours of sleep, if he's lucky.

So, what does Mr. Incredible do after all that? He gets up early again this morning to do it all over again. He loves his family and works very hard for them, frequently making sacrifices for them and rarely complaining.
I don't know about the rest of the world, but the kids and I sure see something super in that.

Let's go fly a kite!

It wasn't quite windy enough yesterday to be flying the kites Grandma and Grandpa brought over but with the help of Grandpa and Daddy the kids managed to get their kites up for a few minutes. They had so much fun. Much to Rob's dismay, they kept singing "Let's go fly a kite!" from Mary Poppins (I was more than happy to join in).
