Some kind of Wonderful

The other night I drove Rob's coworker's car home so that he could replace her starter for her, for free, of course. He was driving his truck home, which had a couple of trimmers in the back that he was going to fix for my dad, and it really got me thinking about the great guy that I am married to.

This is just a perfect example of how Rob is always helping others and I really admire him for this on a couple of different levels. First, it amazes me how he has such a broad knowledge of how to build/fix/better all kinds of stuff. And then it amazes me how willing he is to give up his limited free time to help others. I can't count the number of times he has helped someone move, work on a car or truck, work on a home remodeling project, rescue someone stranded, lay sod, mow a lawn for free, fix sprinklers, roof a house, haul hay, repair lawn mowers, ATV's, snow blowers, etc! During winter time, if he's not at work, he is on his 4wheeler plowing snow off our street and anyone's driveway that hasn't already been cleared.

Rob provides a great example to me of how to serve with love. He is very giving and generous with his time, talents, and possesions. Thanks for being the person you are, Rob!

Christmas Music

A few years ago, it was the Sunday before Christmas and I was in a bad mood getting ready for church. Rob had to work that day, and I was missing him, then while I was trying to get the kids ready the power went out. Argh! So we did the rest of what we could and then I climbed around the garage trying to get the door open so I could get our car out. When we got to the church, the power was still out and the chapel was pitch black, which should have been causing chaos but surprisingly there was none Everyone was silent, listening to Christmas carols being played beautifully on the piano and there was an amazing peaceful, happy feeling in the room. It was one of my favorite Christmas moments and I don't think I will ever forget it.
When the lights finally did come on, I discovered it was our friend Justin Reeve, who is very talented, playing from feeling. This year for Christmas he has created a site with 25 days of Christmas Music. He asked for suggestions, let people vote on their favorites and then took the top 25 and every day until Christmas he is recording an arrangement of that song and posting it on his site. True Blue... Christmas Style

So... if there were still any question left in anyone's mind as to who Rob's favorite teams are... he has taken the liberty of subtley making tribute to them in the Christmas decorations in "his room" See below:

Okay, so here we have all 3 team Santa hats on the big screen where he watches all his games.

Next, we have the stockings, Megan's is the Jazz one, Austin's is the Cowboy's, and baby Kaylee has the brand new Cougars one.

Now onto the tree: there's 1,000 blue and white lights, and all the ornaments are either a shade of blue, silver, or white, or team specific. If you look really close you can even see the BYU candy canes. Yes, I know he has a problem... this is actually my fault though, I put the idea in his head and now he has run amuck...

Since we do believe in karma at our house, hopefully this will mean a good month for the 3 teams that make up Rob's "True Blue"

8 Years... and counting...

Eight years ago tomorrow I was sure I was making the best decision of my life when I married my high school sweetheart. Now with three kids, and eight years behind us (some of them pretty bumpy) I feel even more convinced that I made the right decision.

I love you Rob!! You are perfect for me! You are my best friend, you are the most fun person to be around, you drive me crazy, you are so sweet and loving, you are compulsive, funny, charming at times, hard-working, impatient, good-lucking, genuine, intelligent, honest, and passionate and I wouldn't change a thing about you!

Sorry for the public mushiness, but I figured this was a little bit quieter than shouting it to the world!

Happy Anniversary!!

Big D

Rob has always been a truck guy and I am certain he will always be a truck guy. And apparently there's nothing that makes Rob want to buy a new truck quite like having a new baby girl.

He bought his white stroker when Megan was about a month old (here he is saying goodbye to it)


and he bought "Big D" when Kaylee was just a month old. Notice the shirt- he named this one Big D because it's the colors of the Dallas Cowboys.

We bought this one because of the crew cab for our big family. (Aren't they cute??)

I have to admit it is a pretty sexy truck and Rob looks HOT driving it!

Austin starts Preschool

I seriously don't know how it's possible that Austin started preschool this week, he is growing up so fast! Despite the many times I try to convince him that he's still my baby he just keeps growing!

He kept asking to make sure that we were going to leave him there and not stay with him.

I was hoping for a little bit of the nervousness or the "don't go Mom" but he was totally fine and was telling me to go.

Megan's in first grade

We can't believe our first born is already in FIRST GRADE! Yup, she's going to school full days now like a big girl (although she's still baby girl to us). Here are some pictures of her first day. She lucked out starting school when Kaylee was just 3 days old so that daddy was still off work and could take her (totally broke his heart).

Kaylee is here!

Kaylee was born Sunday, August 16th at 9:03pm. She weighed 7 lbs 2 oz, and was 19.5 inches long. Her father, mother, brother, and sister couldn't be happier to finally have her here.

No baby yet

Isn't there a saying that goes something like "Anything worth having is worth waiting for"? I guess that's especially true for children. I feel like I have been pregnant for 3 years now and it's not over yet. I had an appointment with my Dr. this morning and was hoping to be told that I was ready to go and they were taking me right to labor and delivery. Nope... not even close. It looks like we'll have to wait the remaining 3 1/2 weeks for this blessed event. That news wouldn't be so hard to take if I wasn't having random PAINFUL contractions all the time, could get a decent nights sleep now and then, and wasn't waddling like a duck (Rob almost got me one of those old lady electric wheelchair carts at Target the other day).
More than not wanting to be pregnant any more though, I really just want to hold my baby girl and kiss her huge, chubby cheeks! Hopefully our next post will be announcing her arrival!

Busy Summer

Things have been really busy for our family this summer, a wedding, a funeral, a baby on the way (just to name a few...)
